My dear friend Penguins recently posted this clever game in which one answers a series of questions with the titles of books currently on one's bookshelf. A few months back, we did the same thing with song titles from favorite bands. (Mine is on my book blog in the right bottom corner. It's "My Life According to Pink Floyd") So . . . let's have a bit of book fun.
Using only titles from books on your bookshelf, cleverly answer these questions. Pass it on to 10 people you like and include me. Try not to repeat a title. It's a lot harder than you think!
Are you a male or female: Little Women (Louisa May Alcott)
Describe yourself: The Reader (Bernhard Schlink)
How do you feel: Great Expectations (Charles Dickens)
Where do you currently live: No Country for Old Men (Cormac McCarthy)
If you could go anywhere, where would you go: The House of Mirth (Edith Wharton)
Your favourite form of transportation: A Streetcar Named Desire (Tennessee Williams) Yes, I know it is a play, but I own it in a collection. :D
Your best friend is: The Book Thief (Markus Zusak)
You and your best friends are: Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoevsky)
What's the weather like: The Spy Who Came In From The Cold (John Le Carré)
Favourite time of day: The Night of the Hunter (Davis Grubb)
If your life was a TV show, what would it be called: A Morbid Taste for Bones (Elizabeth Peters)
What is life to you: Persuasion (Jane Austen)
Your relationship: And Then There Were None (Agatha Christie)
Your fear: The Great Mortality (John Kelly)
What is the best advice you have to give: Something Wicked This Way Comes (Ray Bradbury)
Thought for the Day: The Postman Always Rings Twice (James M. Cain)
How would you like to die: Killing Hitler (Roger Morehouse)
My soul's present condition: Things Fall Apart (Chinua Achebe)
My motto: Talk to the Hand (Lynne Truss)
Now you know that I am an even bigger nerdbag than you imagined. So . . . how would you answer these questions? Do it in the comments or on your own blog. :D

Excellent taste in books :D I was doing this also, and several of them are ones both you and Penguins listed.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love this. *makes note to self for future post*
ReplyDeleteYou managed to work some great ones in there and the motto is perfect!
I don't know if I could do this with my bookshelf. The titles tend toward "And Then The Bad Guy Went Boom" rather than pithy phrases. But I want to play!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea :o)
OH! This is so fun and clever :) I am definitely going to do this sometime soon
ReplyDelete@Rebel: Hehe I just read yours! It was very good. And I find it hilarious all of us have so many of the same books. You know what they say about great minds . . . XD
ReplyDelete@Jean: Thanks! I would love to see your version!
@Liana: Ah, but some of those type titles often make the best answers. ^^ I would love to see your version, as well!
@Serena: Thanks! You'll have a lot of fun with this! Can't wait to see what you do with it. :S
Thanks to all of you for commenting! :)
Ha! Clever. Me likes. I think my fave is your relationship. I didn't get the Crime and Punishment, though. How does that work? Nice job, z. :)

ReplyDeleteI laughed at that one :P I just might have to steal this for my own blog, if you don't mind :)
@Eric: Thanks! Hmm . . . I didn't put too much thought in that one. *shame-faced* Since my best friend is a book thief, we spend a lot of our time in the justice system. :D
ReplyDelete@Penguins: Thanks! It is harder than it looks. I really had to dig for some titles. I loved yours! :D
@Chairman: You did remarkably well! Having to use so many textbooks would be tricky. Well done! :)
@Emma: Hehe Glad you liked it! Feel free to steal it! I would love to see yours when you do! :)
Oh I'll definitely try this. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only things I really remember about Things Fall Apart are that we had to rename it for our final, and I called it Grains of Sand (because Grains of Sand slip through your hands like Things Fall Apart?) and that my teacher told us to read Cry The Beloved Country if we'd enjoyed TFA, and it made me homesick. Homesick for Brasil, where my family lived (I was born, and live, here in the good old USA though). Even though CTBC is set in South Africa. My head makes no sense.
I would love to see what you do with it, Patrice! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL I like what you renamed TFA. I have never read Cry, the Beloved Country, though I have heard it is really sad. Did you like it? :)
Ohh, I get it! That's funny! :) Okay I'm going to try it now:

Thanks :P
ReplyDeleteOh Oh Oh Oh Oh!
There's one title on my shelf that I wanted to use but it didn't fit anywhere. May I pleeeze take the liberty of adding a new category?
Where Will You Be in Five Years: In Search of Lake Monsters
:)

ReplyDeleteand then there were none! good book.
Eric, Oooh, great added category! I'm trying to think what my answer would be to that one. Let me take a peek at my shelves and see what I have. :D
ReplyDeleteSuzy: LOL Yes, that is a great book! It's one of my favorite Agatha Christie novels. Thanks for commenting! :)
I shall try this on my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteI liked your answers, Zella!
